Video marketing is one of the best ways to attract clients/customers. 93% of brands acquired a new customer thanks to a video on social media. Close to 90% of marketers attribute increased web traffic to video marketing. More than 60% of marketers expect to increase their spend on video marketing in 2021.
To answer questions you probably have about video marketing, we have Brian Randall who is an owner of VidVictory located in Salt Lake City, Utah. VidVictory’s work has been featured by notable outlets such as Buzzfeed and Good Morning America.
How did you get started as a video creator for businesses?
I got started with video creation when I was about 8. I did my first job for a business when I was 23 at a company I was working for and I volunteered to help them make a video they needed. I've been making videos for businesses ever since.
Is video marketing effective?
I get this question a lot, people often try a single video and when it doesn't explode all over social media they feel like video doesn't work for them. The truth is, video is the most powerful way of getting a client's attention and building brand, as well as offering awareness. The trick is that it can take time. Squatty Potty's ad went absolutely viral, but it also cost $250,000 to make. For most businesses it makes much more sense to build out amazing, much more affordable, content over time.
What role does video play in social media marketing?
If you are on social media I want you to pay attention next time you scroll your Facebook feed. What do you tend to notice, and what do you tend to skip? The numbers are clear that video is getting shared 1,200% more than any other content! Video is now the lifeblood of social media. Text and image posts are nice but nothing commands attention like a great video.
What are 3 tips for business owners who are hiring a video production company?
The first tip is actually a question - a business owner should always ask is to see some sample work. This should come before discussing price. Once you have seen what they can offer their price will likely make much more sense, whether it's high or low.
The second tip is to make sure that your personalities work together. A great artist and a great business owner may make a terrible video if they aren't on the same page. In some cases, people are different enough that getting on the same page may not happen and that is okay!
The third tip is to do your best to explain what you need as clearly as possible and then listen to what they have to say. This part can be hard for a lot of business owners. Sit back and let them talk for a bit and watch for a few things. You may not love their initial ideas for your product, but are they passionate? Do they seem to have a good vision? Are they considering your budget in their plan?
Once you hire them you can brainstorm further on the ideas, but hiring a video company with enthusiasm and fun concepts is far more likely to take you to the places you want to go.
